Lead Generation Strategy – Which Strategies Work?
Today most marketers pay a lot of attention to generating leads and are quite happy with the result as long as they get some sign ups. However, this is not the definition of lead generation. Definition: unlike a typical click-through landing page that serves as an warm up before an actual action like selling a product or offering service, the hence termed lead generation landing page is use to gather personal details and establish potential contact points for you to generate as many potential leads or prospects as you possibly can. It can also be defined as the process by which you generate and manage your leads so that you do not have to constantly pay for them.
In fact these days every online marketer knows that lead generation is not just about landing pages. Today there are various other methods available that can help you generate more leads. They include marketing through social media, Pay Per Click Advertising, blogs, RSS feeds, social media networking, etc. However, most marketers still focus on traditional methods of lead generation like writing articles, press releases, and promoting through social media.
If you are going for promoting through social media then you will need to understand that you should not send visitors directly to your site. Rather, you should send them to social bookmarking sites where you can capture the visitors’ names and email addresses. Once you have these email addresses and names, you should then start sending out short email campaigns to these visitors.
The great thing about this is that you do not have to spend any money in doing so. However, if you want to generate a huge number of leads you may need to invest some money to get visitors to sign up for your list or opt-in form. However, all this should be part of your lead generation strategy as it is much cheaper than paying for advertising. You should also try to keep the number of visitors to your site to a minimum.
Now let us look at another way of generating leads. One method that is very popular among most internet marketers is using Pay Per Click Advertising. This works when you buy space on search engines or on different ad networks for the purpose of sending targeted leads to your landing pages. Basically you have to bid for a slot on these search engines and ad networks. Note that you will not be charged any single penny unless and until you get qualified leads.
What you should try doing is creating your landing pages in such a way that visitors feel interested to follow up. For example, you can give away freebies like eBooks or videos before you send them to your lead generation page. Once they follow the link on your landing page they will be able to access your opt-in form and give you their name and email address. At this stage, all you need to do is provide them with useful information which you have built into your opt-in page and let them get in touch with you. This process of generating leads will cost you a nominal fee but the results that it will generate in the long run will be worth your efforts.
